Performed on August 12th, 2008 in Marshfield, Massachusetts at the Winslow House. A "redemption" talk given on a rainy morning, this was a make-up date from a schedule snafu. The lecture was sold out and I gleaned a lot of new information from residents as to the fire's origin. The original date (July 15th, 2008) had a standing-room-only crowd of 150 people waiting for a speaker who never showed up (me) as I had the wrong start time. I thought that the start time was 7:00 PM, not 10:30 AM. Hopefully I redeemed myself. It was a sort of homecoming for me as I grew up a 1/4 mile down the road. Recorded on December 18th, 2008 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. John reads about the origin (June, 1900) of the "Oh Rinehart!!" tradition at Harvard University. The cry of "Oh Rinehart" became the precursor to student riots as a call to action. It also preceded an uprising in Harvard Square in the Spring of 1932 after the Memorial Hall bell was stolen and Freshmen at Matthews Hall were blamed. In 1896, Charles Dow compiled a market index of 12 companies to determine the strength of the stock market and as a barometer of the American economy.
